2023-24 SEASON

Toast and Talk with Terry Guest
Tuesday, May 28th 6pm

Join us for a unique chance to engage with one of the most vibrant voices in contemporary theater: Terry Guest

Urbanite audiences may recall the profound impact of Terry Guest’s "moving, hilarious, inspiring, and involving" play, AT THE WAKE OF A DEAD DRAG QUEEN, from our 2021/22 season. We are thrilled to have Terry back for the world premiere of OAK!

Join us for an enlightening evening as we host a talk and toast with acclaimed Chicago-based playwright, actor, director, and teaching artist Terry Guest, alongside our Producing Artistic Director, Summer Wallace. Terry's prolific contributions to theater include the much-celebrated The Magnolia Ballet, which not only launched as a 2022 National New Play Network Rolling World Premiere but also garnered two Jeff Awards and the prestigious David Goldman Award for Best New American Play.

Terry's other notable works include A Ghost in Satin at the Williamstown Theater Festival, Marie Antoinette and the Magical Negroes, which received four Jeff Award nominations, At The Wake of a Dead Drag Queen, The Madness of Mary Todd as part of the 2020 Goodman Playwrights Unit, and Andy Warhol Presents the Cocaine Play.

All are welcome to join us at Urbanite Theatre on Tuesday, May 28th, at 6:00 pm for a unique chance to engage with Terry in a Q&A, gaining insight into his creative process and impressive body of work.
